With high horsepower applications, rod bearing failure has become a common concern for the Ford 6.7L Powerstroke. The factory oil pressure regulator usually only allows around 38-40 PSI of oil pressure under high load / high RPM conditions. This can work for a stock engine, but it is not enough for engines that are producing more than the factory rated horsepower.

Installing additional turbochargers can also affect the oil supply issues because they use the engine oil supply for lubrication and cooling.
