Beginning in 2003, all Dodge 5.9L Cummins were upgraded from the VP44 to the dependable Bosch CP3 high pressure fuel pump. Cummins switch over to the Bosch CP4.2 pump for the 2019 Dodge 6.7L Cummins, which has seen a decent number of failures in the GM and Ford trucks.
Cummins had to spin CP4 faster and increase the drive ratio of the pump to keep up with fuel demand due to its decreased volume output.
